Z61t screen

#1 Post by ZaZ » Fri Sep 22, 2006 3:57 pm

I was considering getting a Z61t with the WXGA+ screen and was wondering what the screen quality is like. I am typing this on a D620 whose screen quality is quite poor. It is either too dim or if you crank up the brightness it is washed out. It is too bad as otherwise it is a very good notebook. I also wanted to know what the max external resolution is using the dock. I don't care if I have to use the VGA connector, but I would like to be able to use my 20" LCD while docked. Any help apprecitiated.

I haven't checked out a Z61t yet, but the Z60t uses the same style of matte display as the D620.

I have both a T60 with the XPS screen and a Z61t with the normal screen, and too be honest, I don't see a lot of difference between them except for viewing angles. The T60 is better of course.

However, for general purpose use, the Z61t really exceeded my expectations; having used a T43p prior to purchasing it. It is much better than the T43p's (14.1") screen.

Also, I had a D620 for a short time and it is much better than the screen that Dell uses.

With regards to using an external LCD, yes you can do this but you will not get DVI output from the Z61t even with the Advanced Dock. You'll need to get the T60 for that.

I use the T60 for the office with an Advanced Dock and external 24" Dell widescreen, and then use the Z61t for traveling. It's great on a plane or for use in the car.
