Issue with Suspend-to-Hibernate option.

#1 Post by Terrahawk » Mon Sep 25, 2006 5:38 am

Hi there,

Just got my first ThinkPad the other day, and am quite enjoying it. One day while I was carrying it around when it had been suspended for a while, I noticed it wake up and then apparently shut down in the space of about ten seconds. This was with the lid shut. After a bit of playing, I discovered that it was switching from suspend mode to hibernate mode.

Since then, I've upgraded from 256MB to 512MB of RAM, upgraded the embedded firmware from 1.09 to 1.14, upgraded the BIOS from 1.21 to 1.33 and upgraded a number of drivers (all from IBM/Lenovo). After all that, I now notice that the suspend to hibernate feature no longer works. It started off as hanging after the computer restarted from suspend to go into hibernate but I traced that to me having a BIOS password. Unsetting that stopped the hang but it would no longer go to hibernate, but just stay in suspend mode.

Any ideas on this?

-- EDIT --
I forgot to mention that it is a R40 model 2723-26M, Pentium-M 1.3 GHz, 40GB hard drive (upgraded) and 512MB RAM.
