Slowing down cpu while on battery power

#1 Post by crx00 » Sat May 15, 2004 9:57 pm

Is there a way to slow down the cpu when the laptop is running off the battery? My A31 runs at 1.19ghz when it's running off the battery. I don't really need it to run that fast off the battery because I just use the laptop primarily for word processing internet/email. Thanks in advance;.

You can either use the Battery MaxiMiser and Power Management Features that supposedly came with your ThinkPad (or you can download it from here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4VGUYW ) or go to Control Panel/Power Options and change the Power schemes.

I have that utility .. I can't get the cpu to go any slower than 1.19ghz. There's no other way to slow it down besides control panel?

What CPU do you have? Have you updated the Embedded Controller Program, and the BIOS? First update the ECP then the BIOS. Also, install ACPI Power Management version 1.25.

Maybe 1.19ghz is the lowest speed it can run.
