Re: z60m 2529 Memory
The correct memory for your ThinkPad (Z60m 2529-RDG) is: PC2-4200 CL4 DDR 533MHz SDRAMrscosworth wrote:Looking to upgrade my memory but cant find any decent information,

I would highly suggest that you stay with that speed. Regarding the maximum supported ram, the answer is 2 GB.

No, you can get a 1GB stick - they don't have to be matched by size (just use the correct one, like archer6 said).u2wedge wrote:Is there any disadvantage from installing different storage capacities? i.e. adding a 1Gb stick along with the factory 512Mb?
EDIT: actually, I don't know if there's an advantage to using the same size. My Z60m shows it is operating in Dual channel mode (using PC Wizard 2006) - I have the original 1GB stick and a PC2-4200 CL4 DDR 533MHz SDRAM 1GB stick that I bought from Crucial. Perhaps it won't run in Dual if they are not matched - but I'd think that a 1GB and a 512MB would be faster than 2 512MB's. But I really don't know, so I don't know why I'm responding.

Get a 1GB, then get another one when you can afford it.

Thanks
Jut google "pc wizard 2006" - you don't even have to install it, you can run it from a folder or whatever.
Once you run it, go to the Mainboard icon (looks like a pc with a green arrow) then click on the "chipset" icon in the main window (not the memory icon!) and you will see the memory info (and other stuff) in the bottom window - the memory info will show "activated channels" > Dual (or whatever)
