Tightening loose hinge. Is it possible?

#1 Post by Unregistered » Tue Oct 17, 2006 1:42 am

Is there a way to tighten a laptop's display hinge once it gets loose?

I'm using a Z60m btw.

Both sides. The hinges on my laptop hasn't gotten lose yet but I'm just preparing myself.

That is assuming too much out of Dell; namely, that you can actually tighten the hinges if you feel they are too loose. Not so with most of their models. Especially my M60 because, as it turned out, the large hinges were actually attached to something that itself flexed and couldn't really be bolted down well at all.

Anyway, back on track; if you really want to prepare yourself for anything that could happen to your Thinkpad, read the HMM for it and look at some of the tutorial movies. After that, take a browse through some of the topics in the forum that have to do with the Z Series and you should then be aware of any problems that might arise and how to eliminate them before they actually get a chance to incubate. :)
