R31/R51e port replicator question

#1 Post by cheeseguru » Thu Oct 19, 2006 3:25 am

Hi All,

I have run an R31 for some years and it is now in need of replacement.

My question is this; can I use my Thinkpad port replicator (p/n 02K8668) that I used with my R31 with the R51e, which I am considering as a replacement.

I am aware that the IBM/lenovo website only lists the R31 as supported on this item. I am curious as they have the same physical connections, if anyone else has used this combination even though it is unsupported by IBM/Lenovo.

Surely it should be fine as it is essentially a dumb pass through unit, isn't it?

Cheers

Justin

The answer is no because the R51e also dosen't have a docking conncetor.
