Z61m with WUXGA screen?
Is there any way to get the Z61m with a WUXGA screen (like on the Z61p) preferably with the glossy finish?
Any way to swap?

The swap of lids for a Thinkpad with a different resolution is difficult, but it has been completed for other Thinkpads by some.
Glossy? You would either have to come up with a way to get the LCD panel itself to fit into the lid, then install the lid...or you would have to go with putting a glossy overlay onto the screen. They aren't going to be selling Thinkpads with glossies in the near future.

Oh, by the way, welcome to the Thinkpad Forums, Bob.

I'm not so conserned with the glossy as much as with the WUXGA resolution. Do you know where I can find more info on such a swap?
I guess what I'm looking for is a really nice quality notebook with a 15.4" WUXGA screen and a vid card that is fairly decent for some gaming. The Z61p looks really nice but has a card that is geared more for OpenGL than gaming. The Z61m has a card that is just barely good enough for some light gaming but lacks the WUXGA screen. Aside from that, the Lenovo Thinkpad Z61 series provide everything else I need such as duel battery support, integrated EvDO, and that cool little keyboard light.
I'm also considering the Dell Precision M65 but it too doesn't have the vid card that I would prefer.

I really wish now that I would have bookmarked that thread.
One thread had to do with somebody getting a panel from another laptop onto a Thinkpad and another had information regarding a company, their website in particular, that would be able to take any LCD panel and fit it onto a laptop. I will try searching somemore to see what I can find.

Re: Z61m with WUXGA screen?
9452-JRU appears to be a Z61m with the 1920x200 display. Or am I missing something?Guy Named Bob wrote:Is there any way to get the Z61m with a WUXGA screen (like on the Z61p) preferably with the glossy finish?

P.S. I really hate all these alphabet soup resolution names. Who the heck comes up with SUXGA++ and stuff like that. Ugh.
