How can I boot slave HDD from Ultrabay HDD Adapter (R52)?
How can I boot slave HDD from Ultrabay HDD Adapter (R52)?
Hello,
anyone know how I can book from the Ultrabay slim HDD-Adapter when the harddisk is set to "slave" (Thinkpad R52)?
Even when I book from my fixed harddrive running XP and have an entry in my boot.ini it doesn't work:
boot loader]
timeout=15
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft 2000 Professional"
/fastdetect
I get an error message saying there is a problem with the hdd-configuration.
When I put a HDD set to slave in the adapter, all works fine. Problem is, I cant set the particular drive I want to put in the adapter to master, as it would need a jumper and then it doesn fit.
Any clues?
Thanks.

Why can't you just use the BIOS settings to select which drive you want to boot from?
That's how I do it. No jumpers needed. On an A30 or A31, you can even put in three drives and select which to boot from.
