Onboard Mic and Dialer.exe Problems

I want to use the mic as a speakerphone using under Windows XP Pro SP2. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get heard at the other line. I can also hear the person on the other line speaking. When I record using sound recorder, I can record myself with no problems.

What could be the problem with the mic?
