Thinkpad R30 Wireless Issues

#1 Post by niebling » Tue Oct 31, 2006 11:04 am

Dear God I hope someone here can help with this...I'm pulling my hair out.

My company has 3 Thinkpad R30s that all have the same problem. The wireless connection either does not work, or when enabled, causes huge spikes in the processor usage that effectively freeze and then unfreeze the machine.

I believe the IT guys and I have isolated it to the "AEIWLSTA.exe" process. As soon as we end the process, the processor speed drops back down. However, as soon as that process is not running, the wireless ceases to function.

Anyone know what the heck is going on? I have numerous executives crawling up my butt because their wireless does not work when they travel.

Any insight at all would be most helpful...thanks!

-Chris

A very warm welcome to thinkpad forum

May i know whether all the R30s are running on IBM Access connection or Microsoft wireless utility?

Thanks very much for the welcome :)

I know the issue existed while running IBM Access, but I believe we have removed the program from some of them and are still experiencing the problem. I will confirm - but am 90% sure that is correct.

Have you updated the firmware on your access point?
