USB mouse problem

My thinkpad R52 cannot read my USB mouse at all. I on my thinkpad and let it run till the windows page then i put in my mouse and there is a message popping out, unknown software detected and my mouse cannot be used at all. I need the mouse to click on the project buttons easily and i know there is trackbud and touchpad. I used the trackbud but it runs very fast and i cannot control it at all. I used touchpad but if i accidently middle finger down, the touchpad will ownself click on some unknown buttons and my project will disappear on its own like magic. I do not know whether i can post this or not. Please do not deactivate me because of this post. I really need to get a fast answer. Sorry to all moderators and admins whom i had used to offend. Please help me. I am waiting for a fast answer and i need to do my project immediately.
