z60m Updrade Palm Rest + BT

#1 Post by morovan » Thu Nov 02, 2006 4:11 pm

I recently got my z60M from Lenovo's website. It was only $899 with shipping, but the site did not allow me to make any upgrades. Hence, I have no bluetooth and no fingerprint reader. I found a site www.sparepartswarehouse.com where you can buy spare parts. They have the bluetooth daughter board (39T0497) for $33, my question is whether this will work with the stock Intel wireless adapter?

Also, they have the fingerprint reader pamlrest (26R9591) for $75, and I was wondering if I could just replace my existing palmrest and have the fingerprint reader?

I imagine that both of these modifications would invalidate my warranty, and I am willing to take that risk 8)

Thanks for any feedback!

The bluetooth thing goes inside the screen, and might not be the easiest to install yourself. The palmrest though is pretty easy.

That could be a small problem 8)

Thanks for saving me $75!

Regarding the bluetooth option, does it matter which wireless card is in the machine (IBM vs Intel)?

(I think) no, because bluetooth is a completely seperate system from your 802.11a/b/g WiFi wireless system.

BT Card

Does the Z60m LCD cable have the BT connector by default? Because I've seen Z61m models with an LCD cable with and without the BT connector.

You might want to watch out for that as well.
