hi,
I am Jason from Thailand, Bangkok. This is my 1st post in this forum. I have a wonderful thinkpad story to share with all of you.
I always cycle to school with my thinkpad placed in the basket on my bicycle. One week ago, i cycled too fast up a hump and my thinkpad fly out of my bicycle basket and landed onto the hard concrete pavement.
I was shocked and stunned and i was scared to inspect the damage. I opened my thinkpad and found a broken hinge, chipped plastic at the left hand side of the Lcd screen and i switch on my thinkpad with my eyes closed and cross my fingers and bite my tongue.
I keep on muttering buddha sutra and wish my thinkpad is ok. But in the end, my prayer is answered and my thinkpad can run fine except for a broken hinge.
Do i need to change the whole thinkpad base or the hinge will do? Where to get the hinge and the extra base for my r60? I do not think that lenovo warranty will cover that damages. If have, how should i go about asking for a free exchange?
Jason

You can find and order the hinge part directly from IBM/Lenovo from here depending on the particular model of R60 you have.

Thats nothing.I have a dell lattitude c800.I have dropped this thing over 10 times off my bed 4ft.Twice off the couch 3ft,and once from my upper bunk bed 7ft. about 50 times 6-12 inches over the last 3 years. My now 7year old abused it for 3yrs ,slams it closed, bangs on the keyboard, all that and it dont have a scratch! looks new still.not even a worn spot on a key.Its a beast and im going to keep it forever. It still works off the original battery almost 2hrs,fully charges in 18minutes. AND I USED IT FOR OVER 8MONTHS in a daily driven race car mounted on a stand shaking and vibrating like mad.lets see a titanium crap book live thru all that!
I love my ibms tho.And theyre the best sellers next to g4 for me
Ive had a few ibms 3 600series,2 r series and 2 t series all fall apart and are verry weak design.hindges,keys,screen,plastics,mouse.
