How long does process taken for build to ship timeframe

#1 Post by capitalst » Wed Nov 08, 2006 9:52 am

I ordered a new Z61t on Sunday Nov. 5th and my "est ship" date is Nov 30th. Is there about right or will I see if before Thanksgiving? Reason I ask is because I will be out of town on the 25th and I'm trying to pin down the delivery timeframe. Whats your thoughts?

fwiw, I order a z61m c2d on 10/26. The estimated delivery date was stated as 11/29. It arrived 11/6. Give the sales rep a call and check for the realistic delivery date...hope you get it soon. I'm having a lot of fun with my new z61 now that I'm getting the security and other s/w figured out.

Did you order it with custom parts or was it one of the TopSeller laptops?

I ordered a Top Seller z61p (9450-a1u) two and a half weeks ago. Original ship date was the 6th of Nov. They just moved the ship date out another two weeks, and haven't charged my card yet.

I ordered on 10/19 and the system shipped on 10/29 and arrived first thing in the morning on 11/1.

NOTE: When UPS got it to U.S. shores it sat for two days while the customs paperwork was re-worked and cleared (I didn't have to do anything, it's between Lenovo and US Customs, via UPS import brokerage). I've read many other similar experiences, so expect total shipping from Kowloon, Hong Kong to take 3 days or more.

I ordered the 2GHz, 1.5GB, 100GB 7200 RPM, Thinkpad wireless card, w/ Windows XP PRO. So hopefully this doesn't take to long.

It was a "standard" configuration. I did order more RAM, which the rep said would slow down the delivery if they installed it, so I ordered it separately. The Ram arrived b4 the laptop and was installed right when I took it out of the box.
