A31 internal wireless card

#1 Post by rmplayer » Thu Nov 16, 2006 4:04 pm

I expect to get myA31 thinkpad booted next week and if so will try to get a wireless card. I understand that the thinkpad is specific as to the cards it will accept.

The A31 is listed as having a type IIIA slot. Will it accept a Type B, G or B/G card and if so which manufacturer.

If you refering on PCMCIA slot any WiFi card should work AFAIK.

If your A31 has built in WiFi antennas you may use internal mini PCI card. In taht case there are certain limits, cards which are not certified by IBM may generate error/s during POST and prevent booting due to 1802 and/or 01C9 error. Updating to latest BIOS in most cases eliminates error 1802, still some cards may require patching to eliminate 10C9 error. You may find detailed information here.
Gigabyte GN-WIAG01 (Atheros Super G) in my A31p was generating 01C9 on POST but not 1802, fortunately NO-01C9 fix solved problem.
