A30P Product Recovery Program

#1 Post by cpease » Thu Sep 02, 2004 11:20 pm

I just got a new T42P and gave my husband my old A30P. My old Thinkpad is fickle and my husband somehow has trashed the operating system. He removed IE from the computer. ( I don't know why?) Anyway, we have lots of issues now. I get errors that it can't verify the license for WinXp and then it keeps shutting down. After about 10 reboots it will finally start and then say the system is low on virtual memory. It does other crazy things too. Soooo, I pushed F11 to use the system recovery program. I don't have recovery CD's. I get a message that the hard drive will be reformatted and all files will be deleted. Does this mean that the operating system is in the hidden partition along with the drivers and pre-installed software, or do I have to call IBM and get the recovery CD's. HELP!

You dont need to call ibm. The OS and all drivers / apps are in the "hidden" partition. It will restore it to the as delivered date.

Thanks Penny:

Got it restored pretty quickly. Loaded all the software again and it now runs much quicker. He is happy as a clam.

before you do this, backup your all files first.
