i'm a newbe here - greetings everyone
generally it's a standard 9461-54G model (core duo 1,8ghz, hdd 80gb, ati x1400) but with extra 512 megs of RAM.
during the tune-up i've noticed that i can not enter on my keyboard a "dashed-c" polish diacritical character with usual right alt+c combination. i thought it was an issue of ATI software, but it isn't. which other application can be block this kind of thing? other dashed-characters work fine.
my other question is: do i really have to have all this background software turned on? i mean for example the "TouchPad Driver Helper Application" or "Synaptics TouchPad Enhancements" and others. i do not use touchpad and this software is useless for me. unfortunalely i can't find any place where i could turn this kind of software off.
the other useless for me are (it doest'n mean they are not crucial for the TP to work at all, if so correct me please):
- ThinkPad EasyEject Support Application
- ThinkPad UltraZoom
- InstallShield Update Service Scheduler
- Away Scheduler
- cssauth
- scheduler_proxy Application
these are child processes of explorer. there is also a bunch of other apps running as services. if any of these can be turned off, please let me know.
the other thing is, which i've just noticed, the back and forward buttons above the left and right arrow. where can i turn these off?
and the last thing is the thinkvantege software. what is the difference between "Rescue Media" and "Recovery Discs" which i can create with "C:\Program Files\IBM ThinkVantage\Common\spi\RRMedia.exe"?
do i get it right that the Rescue Media is only a windows-and-preinstalled-software installation disc? and if so, what is the purpose of creating it, if the same thing is available from recovery software during boot-up?
regards,
