PATA ultrabay on z61t

#1 Post by firefan » Tue Dec 26, 2006 6:56 pm

Hello,

I am planning to purchase a Z61t. Will my existing ultrabay slim 2nd HDD adapter (PATA) from my existing T42p work on the Z61t? I read on the T series forum that the T43 recognizes both PATA and SATA ultrabay slim devices. Thanks.

I found this in a hardware announcement dated February 28, 2006 for the Z60m.The Ultrabay does not support the combination of PATA HDD and “ThinkPad 2nd HDD Adapter Option (62P4554)” though the second HDD adapter can be attached to Ultrabay physically. We're talking z61t here, and the ultrabay slim pata hdd adapter works fine in my z60t (2513mcu) so it should work on the z61t too.

Yep, I understand. I was just stating what I had read posted on the IBM web sight for a Z series ThinkPad. I also found that same statement in the hardware announcement pdf for the Z61t, Z60t, and others Z series ThinkPads. I guess Lenovo’s official stance is it should not work or is not supported, but you have proven otherwise. I too was looking at getting a PATA HDD slim Ultrabay Adapter (62P4554). I'm glad to hear it will work. Thanks.
