TP R51 LCD REPLACEMENT FRU's?

#1 Post by bananaheadache » Mon Jan 08, 2007 5:43 pm

Hello,
I have a TP R51 2888-NU1 with a cracked lcd . I'm looking to replace it but am not able to make heads or tails out of ibm's site on this unit

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-53129

Does anyone know the fru's so I can just look on eBay for this replacement part?

Is there a chance that anyone has successfully replaced just the 14.1 XGA LCD panel in an R51 2888 with something better like SXGA, UXGA, QXGA .... perhaps even from another manufacturer? If so could you please reply with those FRU's?

tia

I provided you with the hardware manual link is to allow you to have a set of instructions on how to take off the LCD screen from the thinkpad black cover and get the FRU number which is pasted behind.

Yes, thank you for that but since removing the display is QUITE involved and would render the laptop pretty much useless i'd rather only pull it apart once i have the replacement lcd in hand.

I'm also very curious about the upgrade fru's posited in my original post.
