The annoying "beep" everytime I adjust the volume

#1 Post by Tina_Norway » Sat Jan 13, 2007 4:48 am

Hi!

I'm a student from Norway, who just recently got my R60 notebook. So far it's the best pc I've ever had, BUT there's this small problem which really annoys me...

The computer has some soundbeeps that doesn't come from Windows. It's not possible to adjust the volume on the beeps either. I've managed to turn off the beeps that came everytime I pressed wrong button or accidently pressed several buttons at the same time.

BUT, there's a beep everytime I press the volumecontrol-buttons on the computer as well, and these beeps I haven't found out how to turn off.

I would be really happy if somebody could help me! :)

Best Regards

Tina ;)

Go into the BIOS. Config > Alarm > disable Volume Beep

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Sounds Tab.

Configure to your heart's content. The default XP Sounds are offensive (to my ears) and I changed the main ones back to Windows - Earlier. Specifically, I change the default Beep to a Ding, Start Navigation to Nothing, and Mail to Notify. YMMV :)

Good advice. On mine I've turned off every sound I can find. I hate all of those beeps, squawks and warbles.

Thanks! My R31 started making the "Volume Button Beeps" after I dismantled it to fix the overheating problem - I had to remove the BIOS backup battery to do that. BIOS duly changed, and I'm happy!

Just bought a "pre-loved" T43 to replace the venerable R31.
