R60 with odd wireless/Access Connections problem

#1 Post by njh621 » Mon Jan 15, 2007 6:52 pm

Hello all,
I've got a really weird problem here. Access connections is in charge of my wireless card, and there is an easy connect icon on the taskbar I click, and from the window that pops up I can either turn on/off the wireless radio. Recently, I can no longer turn on or off the wireless radio from that Access Connections window, and I have to do it from device manager.

I tried clicking the button that reads "Power on wireless radio", it seems to try something, then does nothing. The button goes back to normal, and still reads "Power on wireless radio". I can no longer power up the radio from the Fn+F5 menu either, only from device manager. I've tried reinstalling both Access Connections, the wireless drivers, and I've attempted system restore to before the problem happened, and nothing worked. Is there anything except restoring the hard drive to factory default that can fix this?

*Note: I can still connect via wireless through Windows, but I would like to be able to do it through access connections like I used to. Also, I have unchecked the "Let Windows handle wireless settings" so it isn't that.*

Go to the Intel site and find the drivers for the mini-card. Uninstall/remove the device in Device Manager. Install the Intel drivers. Let the Intel software control the device/connection.
