R60 memory increase

#1 Post by allan » Tue Jan 16, 2007 9:20 pm

Hi all,
After my R40 was stolen out of my Land_Rover (while I was 15 feet away on the beach) I needed to replace it quickly and had to sacrifice one preferred option in the new R60 - 2GB of mem which I wanted as I need to process rather large satellite geotiff images. I have the supplied 1GB and now want to get another 1GB module. I need some advice please:
1. How to I tell exactly what module specs I have
2. 1GB modules said to be compatible come in two flavours - with or without ECC and buffering.

I have surfed for a few hours and still can't decide which I should go for. I think I understand that ECC is needed for network servers only, but then I read that it should be used when using large mem capacity.

Any advice would be a great help as i live in the boonies and can't go into a shop full of experts.

When in doubt, you can always look up the tabook or 18004memory.com. In this case, you need part # 40Y7734. 18004memory.com has one for $119.

Thanks - that does it - I didnt know about tabook.

Odd - I can"t use the single apostrophe here - it opens a little pink find thing at bottom left of the screen.
