Am I using the power manager properly? Won't work....

Is there anything I am missing here? I am trying to use the power manager to have my new battery start charging when it falls below 90% and stop at 95% but yet it still got charged to 100% and it will not go down? Shouldn't it lose power on its own even while plugged into the laptop and on the a/c cord? It's been at 100% for about 2 days ...should i unplug the a/c to let it discharge a bit and then plug it back in?
Scheme name is set to "power source optimized"
Battery maintenance set to start charging when below 90% and stop at 95%
When i put the cursor over the green battery icon in the taskbar it shows the correct charge settings range but still stays at 100% instead of letting it discharge to 95%.....
I'm about to take out the battery...my last battery lasted less than a year probable because of overcharging and not using PM, I want this one to last me a decent time

In my Thinkpad, it can be a week or more for the battery to drop from 100% to 99% if I leave it wall powered or off all the time.

Things sound perfectly ok to me - unlike some earlier/alternate laptops, Thinkpads do stop charging their batteries when they are full and don't try to overcharge. This prolongs the battery life.

Enjoy your laptop and don't worry about the battery. From personal experience, my Thinkpad is a year old and the battery works almost as good as it did new - without doing anything special.
