What's next - BMDC200B install

#1 Post by cpn » Fri Jan 26, 2007 2:51 am

Okay, I installed the BMDC200B bluetooth/modem card in my A31 2652-PBU. That was the easy parts it seems. From everything I have read on this site, the next step is to turn it on, with the FN-F5 key. That keystroke does absolutely nothing on my machine. I have uninstalled the hotkey utility and the all of it parts. In fact I uninstalled all the IBM drivers and re-installed them all. Still nothing. What am I missing here? Thanks for any pointers you can give.

This may just be bad news, but I had the same result with a much newer ThinkPad, the R50e.

BT is supported in the A31, you might just need to pick up the correct BT adapter (an earlier model).

Okay, I got this figured out finally. I had to install Access Conections so I could get the TpFnF5C.exe, since I don't have the button on the LCD panel. I ran that by hand and it found the device and turned the radio on. I will keep a copy of this program and hopefully I can uninstall access connections... I am also sticking with MS's bluetooth software that's in XP w/SP2. All I wanted the bluetooth for was a wireless mouse without using a dongle and the MS software allows me to do that. I like to use as little as possible in terms of add on system software.
