R52 again! I am very angry now!!!

#1 Post by NS » Tue Jan 30, 2007 2:06 am

I have got no problem with my R52 thinkpad but 1 of the fan (heatsink) screw is screwed so tight that i cannot loosen it at all, so i went down to Lenovo/IBM singapore to look for my favourite engineer: Lim Po San and the people said he has left the compnay long ago.

Ok, so cut long story short, i got another engineer to help me to loosen the screw. My thinkpad keyboard cannot come off easily and you must to use a screwdriver to push the keyboard up and slide it out. This engineer used his screwdriver to pry the keyboard loose from the keyboard bezel and before he started doing this, he is using so much force on my keyboard arrow keys and keep pushing it up and down.

Nothing happens when the screw is loosened but after i reached home and started to do my work on my thinkpad, i was busy typing when the arrow key dropped off and cannot be snap back in place. On closer look, the tiny legs have broken off.

My R52 is out of warranty long time ago and i have called IBM to make a complain about this engineer and guess what? I received an "excellent" service from them. They put me on hold for so long, refused to transfer my call to their management people, keep siding their own people and refused to listen to me and keep demanding from me the report number when the other staff failed to give me one.

~How to ask for keyboard replacement for free since their engineer has damaged my keyboard?~

In this situation, I usually call back and hope for a nice person. Sorry to hear about your problems.

Also, I've had very tight screws on various TPs. To avoid future issues, on the reinstall, I roll the tip of the screw on a bar of soap. This makes it go in smoothly and come out easily.
