Z61m system blocks with black screen when changing user

#1 Post by windwater » Sat Feb 03, 2007 9:54 am

Each time when I want to switch to another user's profile, after the login window the screen is black. Cursor can move, but no commands are possible. The only way is to switch off computer by holding button long time.

Does anybody has an idea where the problem is ?

Thanks in advance

I'm afraid I don't have the answer, but I'm having a similar problem.

Whenever my system goes into suspend lately, either because the battery level gets too low or because I close the lid, I have a problem like you described when I turn it back on. At first I get the fingerprint reader prompt as normal, but then after it accepts my fingerprint I get to a screen with just my wallpaper and the cursor. No icons, no start menu, nothing. If while it is that way you flip the physical switch to turn off the wireless it brings up the appropriate dialogue box, but that doesn't impact anything else. Ctl-alt-del doesn't work; none of the blue function keys work either. Only way to get out of it is to hold down the power button to turn it off. It then restarts as normal, following the whole restart sequence.

Anyone else have this, and know a solution? Thanks.
