Active Protection for new Hard Drive?

#1 Post by Unregistered » Wed Feb 07, 2007 8:39 pm

If my current hard drive dies will the replacement hard drive that is of a different model/brand still have Active Protection?

I'm using a Z60m.

From what I've picked up here, the active protection is hardware and software that detects when the drive heads need to be parked, and calls a standard drive command to park the hard drive heads.

Therefore any drive should work.

Any drive.

The supporting hardware is on the planar of the ThinkPad, and monitored by the software driver.

All it does is drop park commands to the drive.
