Ctrl F2 unable to be used?

#1 Post by dgnash » Thu Feb 08, 2007 5:12 pm

A program which I plan to run regularly uses Ctrl F2 to undertake a task, however, on the Z61m it has no effect. How can one determine which function keys have been reserved by memory-resident software.

As far as I am aware none of the Function keys have been taken over by a memory resident program. There are Fn + Fxx cobinations, but those are not the same thing as Crtl+Fxx.

I believe what dgnash is asking is if there is a utility program which will report which application currently running in the background is responding to, or acts upon, a particular keyboard shortcut (hotkey). If so, I do not know the answer to that question. I've looked around the net but came up empty. I did find this:

Possibly someone there can help.

Thought he was asking what IBM loaded software would intercept F12.

In order to determine what programs receive what keystrokes you may have luck with something like:

http://www.spectorsoft.com/products/SpectorPro_Windows/

This says it categorizes by application and speficially mentions it captures FN + CRTL keys (unfortunately no free trial). Another thing to check is to see if the key is working with:

ctrl + F2 is by default reserved to the password manager for auto fill-in of a password at a given point.
