They often pull models from the site when they are temporarily out of stock, and then they show up again a few days later. It could just be a case of a truckload of some key component not showing up at the factory when it was supposed to.

What a sales rep says on the phone is completely irrelevant. They regularly make up answers. If they're being paid on commission or have some other kind of incentive plan, then of course they're going to want you to buy something right away and not wait until it's back in stock again.

Nevertheless, I wouldn't rule out the possibility that they are phasing out the Z series. That doesn't bother me - as long as someone can tell me which model in the T series I can order with a WUXGA screen.

That would be a problem, as none of the T series can be equiped with a WUXGA screen :( .

Why? Couldn't the 15.4" widescreen T series support WUXGA?
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

I didn't mean to say it couldn't support it, only that Lenovo currently chooses not to offer it. Hence, as a consumer you can not currently purchase a T-series widescreen with a WUXGA screen.

Forgot about the firewire port, and didn't think of the camera, as I didn't see that option for the Z61p. Well maybe they will add those two things as options to the T-series when it is refreshed. I would imagine they will do that when the santa rosa chipset from intel is release.
Plus the Memory card reader and better screen :)

What is the santa rosa chipset, and what is it's release schedule. Is lenevo coming out with next TXX models?

I hope so. Look forward to it coming back.

It seems one can't.

The Santa Rosa is the next edition of Centrino. It is supposed to come out near the end of the first half of this year (I have heard late April - May time frame --- but don't know how accurate that is).

The Santa Rosa contains the following improvements:
1) 802.11-draft n (assuming you stay with the Intel card)
2) Actual support for 4GB+ of memory
3) Better integrated graphics
4) Speed bump in the processors
5) A flash cache for HD access to help frequently used programs to load faster

I was just speculating that we would see a refresh of the T60 series (and others) when the Santa Rosa became available. My complete wild guess is that we will see an updated thinkpad line within a month or so of Santa Rosa being released. Maybe around June or July.

Also, if they will add any of the things that used to be available in the Zseries I don't know. Just thinking they might.

Personally, I am very glad I ordered my z61p when I did. It really has a great set of specs, and I have been pleased with it. Now, if you can get the same machine in a T-series which uses stronger/lighter casing material with an IPS WUXGA widescreen that would be awesome.
