Wireless is not working, Please help someone!!

#1 Post by Conny_SWE » Fri Feb 16, 2007 7:28 am

I bought a Thinkpad z61m (Windows XP SP2) with Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG LAN Adapter, and I have a problem connecting to wireless routers. For a start it worked fine. Then suddenly it stop working.

I got a very good signal and its connecting fine. But when it trying to recive an IP address from DHCP it fail. I have tryed diffrent routers in diffrent places and tryed with other computers and they connect without a problem! I have tested to uninstall Access Connection and installed Intels driver and software but same problem occurs, I have also tested XP´s built-in wireless software but again same problem when it tryes to get an IP from DHCP.

I have tested to disable XP firewall and antivirus firewall allowing all network traffic without result. I have tryed to disable WEP security leaving the network all open without result.

I cant think of anything more to test....

Now I have installed my old wireless networkcard (PC-Card) from D-Link, And it works, but I really want the built-in wireless to work.

Anything else I can do??

Kind regards

Conny

Look in Windows Device Manager for any Red X's or Yellow !'s. Run PC Doctor to check for hardware problems. Try repairing the Winsock. See following links for more information.

Troubleshoot TCP/IP Connectivity

How to recover from Winsock2 Corruption

Using the Network Diagnostics Tool

Try the steps antera309 lists in the following thread.

I wasn't quite sure where your problem lie so I gave you the shotgun approach. I'm glad you solved your problem. :)
