5 minutes startup - Security Chip problem??

#1 Post by havrancek » Wed Feb 21, 2007 7:04 am

In last few days my Z61m is slow as hell..
After reboot, booting, prefore windows login, there is window with bla-bla embeded security chip.. it is there for cca 5 minutes, doing nothing.. after that although i can log in to windows, but system is slow as hell, loading of startup programs (which is normaly in few secs.) takes cca another 10-15 minutes!!!
is it some problem with security chip? or why is it?
can u help me please

i phone also to ibm service, they said they will take my ntb, but i want to save time, if it is something i can solve at home, thx

10-15 minutes is quite a lot, here is something I encountered for slow startups, but I am not sure it will solve your problem completely.

Once your system starts completely go to task manager and check the number of processes. Take a look at the processes running under the current user name. Most of them would be optional services which are not needed during startup. Find a way to remove them from your startup list. I used windows defender (system mechanic is good too). I was able to get my startup processes down from 79 to 50 (including system ones),, which was a noticeable change to a faster boot up.

Go to Device Manager and verify that your hard drive is using Ultra DMA Mode 5. Check in Device Manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers > Primary IDE Channel > Advanced Settings tab.

Disable your security chip via the BIOS. See if that helps.

i did this, but no change.. i dont know if it is problem of that security chip or BIOS itself (i have the latest ver).. as i said, when i unistalled CSS logon is much quicker (no chip checking). but then - after login is slow..
and it is not first time, i had problems with it also when i installed latest KAV as anti-virus (i dont use it anymore, because of that)..

anyway is this security so called Fritz Chip? or something else?
