A31p / Atheros wireless connection problems

#1 Post by ScottWitte » Mon Feb 26, 2007 10:39 pm

I've upgraded my A31p to a Atheros AR5212A based Mini PCI card and applied the patch. It works but not at 108Mbs.

The card is a AR5002 type using the AR5212A chipset. The label says Nextel but I think they are all the same and only the label changes. It is suppose to be capable of 108Mbs. The Access point is a D-Link 624M using "Super G with Dynamic Turbo" so it should be capable, yet I seem locked at 54Mbs. I have backed off Access Connections to v3.82 as per a recommendation I saw in the threads.

I've tried a couple drivers from thinkpad and d-link but with no difference in result.

What am I doing wrong?

Re: Wireless 108

My wife has that exact same machine with the same card working off of the same Wireless AP and she get 108mps no problem. At one point, I upgraded her machine to use the new driver from IBM and it dropped down to regular G and would not go one bit faster. I did that so we could use the 4.xx version of Access Connection. I ended up rolling back to an earlier driver and use 3.xx version of AC and it all works fine now. The same on my T30.
