Power state change -- UPDATED! (how to replace HD?)

#1 Post by cuppingmaster » Thu Mar 01, 2007 1:08 pm

EDIT:

So it won't boot now, and I'm convinced it's the HD. I can't even get to the initial TP logo screen with the intel centrino logo. Are there any websites that show some step-by-steps on replacing the HD? Since it has Active Protection, any tips on where to get an HD for somewhat cheap? I'm thinking like $300 for 80GB, but who knows what an OEM replacement would be.

Any help on this would be great. I'm going to try and find someone to examine it to confirm my suspicion, but I do know it's messed up.

Original:

So when I change from batt. to plug, or vice versa, I get total freezing. At first I thought it was the touchpad, but it'll happen with both touchpad and pointing stick.

Last night, I barely got it to boot to the point where I could get to safe mode and was then able to use the XP system restore panel, which has helped a little. I saw blue screen a few times and just the fan and power on a few times too, but no disks or screen. Now I have this annoying problem though. Anyone had any luck with simply turning off or disabling all the power management software? Can you even do that and have the thinkpad function properly?

The only thing I put on here recently is Google Talk and a few MP3 editors, but nothing huge and major. Any assistance is welcomed.
