Flickering display on R51e

#1 Post by Relsted » Wed Mar 07, 2007 3:24 pm

Dear Forum-readers

I recently bought a secondhand R51e for some Linux-projects of mine. But the machine is useless. It starts up fine, but after a few minutes the display begins to flicker. At first just slightly, but quickly the display is illegible. I have tried to attach an external monitor but it gets no signal. I also tried to take the thing apart and wiggle all connectors to no avail.

Has anyone had similar problems? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

On a sidenote: I have been using Thinkpads for years and have a Z50 and a PC110 in a drawer somewhere. Hasn't been powered up in a couple of years. If anyone want to buy them give me a PM and lets find out.

Board dead. GPU had come loose. Burnt it to a crisp while trying to resolder it.

So I bought a new board from ITThinker on eBay. Consider this post a recommendation. ITThinker is helpful, quick, reliable and kind.
