A31p dual display issue

#1 Post by Adonis21 » Fri Mar 09, 2007 6:23 pm

First off, this is my first post. I've already gotten a lot of help and information lurking around the forums here, so thank you for that. Now on to the problem.

I've been running dual monitors on my A31p (2653 H5U) for sometime now. I just updated my external monitor to a 19" widescreen lcd. The FireGL 7800 just can't handle running my CAD software with that screen enabled. So I bought a Dock II and a new video card. Now the computer has disabled the FireGL. Is there any way to force it to run both video cards so I can have both monitors back? I've done a lot of searching and haven't found anything, I'm hoping some one here might have done something similar. Oh...the new video card is a Visiontek ATI X1300.

First, welcome to the Forum.

Second, have you tried using the DVI port on the Dock II to drive your 19" display in lieu of the Visiontek card?

What resolution are you looking for?

Get the Radeon Omega driver from the WWW and install it.

Have you read this?

Thanks for the welcome.

I haven't tried using the DVI port, but I was running the 19" on the VGA port till I got the video card. The 19" runs at 1440 x 900.

Not sure what the omega drivers will offer me as a solution.

I want to be able to run both monitors, utilizing both video cards, the visiontek for the 19" and the FireGL for the laptop screen. Looks like the thinkpad is just incapable of doing it.

Best canoes in the world!
