vista audio issue on z60t

#1 Post by bostonguy » Sat Mar 10, 2007 12:17 pm

I have recentley partioned my hd and installed vista on the partition, there is a problem though the sound doesnt work, i assume its a driver issue. On the lenovo site the only audio driver they have listed for a z60t with vista is a windows 2000/xp driver which caused my vista to crash. Has anyone else installed vista and not had the audio work?

First I would try Windows Update and see if it finds the audio driver. If not...

I notice for XP, the following driver is listed: Audio Features XI for Windows 2000, XP - ThinkPad R60, R60e, T60, T60p, X60, X60s, X60 Tablet, Z60m, Z60t, Z61e, Z61m, Z61p, Z61t.

I would be tempted to try the following driver: Audio Features XI for Windows Vista - ThinkPad R60, R60e, T60, T60p, X60, X60s, X60 Tablet, Z61e, Z61m, Z61p, Z61t. I make no guarantee of the results and you try at your own risk.

Sounds is diabolical on a z60m as well.

It works, but if the system gets i/o bound for instance on the hard disk, the audio breaks up nicely.

I guess this is what you get from moving audio drivers into user mode!
