AHCI vs Comatibility Mode. Fresh Install

#1 Post by treydur » Sat Mar 17, 2007 5:05 pm

Hi

I have a Z61T and like it alot.

Due to replacing my HDD with no recovery partition. I need to install fresh copy of WinXPP. I have run Windows Vista's for a couple of months, and while it is very nice in some regards it is causing me to many headaches in other areas

I have tried to install WinXPP from CD with all settings in BIOS as from Factory (latest BIOS also). However, it will not install onto the drive with AHCI. I have to change it to compatibility mode.

Can anyone tell me how to change this. I have XP up and running now but if change to AHCI, it simple does not see the drive once windows starts to load. Incidently, what are the real life implication (what does it do) of running compatibility mode vs AHCI

Thanks in advance
