screen is wigling and blinks freezes if i move laptop a hair
I lightly droped my r40 like 3inches but it hit pretty hard.
Now my screen is blinking and it jumps aand shakes if i move tyhe laptop at all!!
I can use it all day long if it sits perfectly still
I isolated it to somewhere around the hardrive area.
I changes hardrives/memeory/screens/inverter
Someone has to know what it is.??
It freezes up and goes thru a zillion test patterns then blacks out if i shake it some more itll come back but it frozen..
When i reboot.....its perfect and will stay perfect untill its shaken or moved slightly.
weird.
it always boots up fine.

FIXED IT YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
UNderneath the video plug theres another plug under a small board.
Somehow that little 2 inch drop knocked that plug loose.I snaped it back in after pulling the whole computer apart.
I was looking for anything I can find.If I knew it was that I would have just removed te keyboard and been done.
Well thanks for the help guys!!!

It might help to download a copy of the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the R40 from here:
HMM for R40/R40e
and then reference the appropriate part/FRU and page number.

well that wasnt it....
The plug is
Remove the keyboard
remove the aluminum plate nearest the sreen, its underneath the video plug...
then once u pull the plate off, youll see the video chip .
My problem lessened when i put it back together.
It seems that when th eposer if totally off.it dont happen untill the system warms up.
NOw.......If i rest my hands on both corners as if i were typing.I could smash the crap out of it and it wont wigggle or freeze.
but as soon as I lift my hands off it.It wiggles and freezes
Still....If I put it on the table....i can type forever and it wont blink.
So....it has something to do with the pressure of the case on something.
I use the laptop on my lap and it dont like that.it wants to sit even and level.
Remember,I did change the h/d its not that
