Thinkpad R40 on Ebay - Should I buy?

#1 Post by jn1520 » Mon Mar 19, 2007 10:02 am

Hi Everyone,

This is a great forum. As someone who has always owned Thinkpads, I find it to be a great resource.

I'm hoping someone can provide feedback on an Ebay listing for a Thinkpad R40. Is the following model worth $417 (this includes shipping)?

2.2GHz Pentium 4 Mobile Processor
512MB PC2100 RAM
60G HDD
15" XGA TFT LCD
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Optical Drive
802.11a/b Wireless Card
UltraNav
Battery and AC Adapter Included
Dims: 12 x 9.8 x 1.4 in
Weights: 5.73lbs
Model Number: 2682-MU3

Cosmetically, it looks great and the unit is apparently off a business lease.

Thanks!

It's an okay but not great deal. I've seen many cheaper T40's with better specs on eBay. Remember that this R40 has a Pentium 4 processor, which is not as good as Pentium M. 2.2GHz P4 is equivalent to 1.6GHz PM.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP
