A22p replacement motherboard source ?
A22p replacement motherboard source ?
Hi,
I have an A22p which has given great service but now needs a replacement motherboard. It's the 1GHz 2629 model and I've been looking on eBay USA and eBay UK for quite a while now to see if any boards come up for auction but haven't spotted anything as yet. I've seen plenty of A22e&m boards but nothing for the /p model.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a potential source for boards other than eBay. I would also like to get the base plastics for my sysytem as well since mine has a large pressure fracture in the back left hand corner where the hinge mount pressures have created problems over time.
I'm sure that I can get the system board repaired but that won't solve my problem of getting a replacement base unit so I'm looking for someone who is breaking an A22/p. Just thought I'd ask in case anyone would know of a good source.
Thanks in advance
Kind regards and best wishes
Phillip

Hi,
Finding a board for A22P is likely to be a hassle, and you can't use the board from A22M (you can, but will not get what you need in the respect of video resolution). Given the fact that you need the base as well, you're probably better off finding a whole machine and just swapping what you need. I've sold a barebone A22P for under $100 some 6 months ago...patience is a virtue, my friend.

Hi George,
Thanks for that information. I wouldn't actually mind putting in an A22m board as I'm not all that much concerned about the high resolution of the 22p. I found that under Win2K I couldn't get the screen to work useably on anything but the 1600x1200 resolution and found it to be more of a detraction than a help in the end. 1024x768 suits me fine and if I could restore the A22 to that then I would be happy to do so.
I have looked for a barebones 22p but most I've seen have been complete machines and have gone for a good price. It doesn't make sense to buy a complete machine as I'd rather put that kind of cash towards buying a T6* widescreen when they appear on the market as I've been told they will.
My only tech concern is the fitting of a 22m board into my machine and any incompatibilities and whether the screen connections will be a match. I guess from what you're saying is that this won't be a problem. Would this also mean that the base plastics of a 22m would be the same ?
Thanks for you help and advice
Kind regards and best wishes

Base plastics should be the same, but make sure that the base is from a machine with a 15" screen...good luck.
Out of sheer curiosity: why don't you just buy a barebone A22M? I've sold one for like $65 2 months ago, a working shell...

Success !!!!
Thanks for all your help and advice. I managed to get an A22p replacement board off eBay USA and I should have that with me soon. I'm really pleased to be able to get this machine up and running once more as I like it a lot and it has always given great service. Now I hope to have it in use for a few more years.
I just need to replace the base plastics now, so if anyone has one or knows of one then please let me know.
Many thanks once again
Kind regards and best wishes to you
