G41 288623U dvd/cdrw replacement

What other dvd/cdrw's are compatible with my G41 288623U? I have a Matshita UJDA760 drive in it now. Will a R50 39T2529 fit? Please help, I have researched for two days and I am more confused than ever. Vern

The R Series machine have an Ultrabay of one type or another where as the G4x had a "fixed" drive. It looks like it's just a regular 12.7mm drive so pretty much any drive of that size will work. You'd just have to get the HMM and open the machine up to replace the drive that's in there. You'll have to modify the bezel of the new drive to have the notch, but if you use an IBM model, you won't even have to do that.

If it was me and I was going to all that trouble to replace the drive, I'd put in a DVD burner since they are really inexpensive now. I've used 2 NECs on our machines and they have been great.
