Z61t video problems
Z61t video problems
Is there any way to improve video performance on the Z61t? I have the 9440-ACU with the built-in Intel video. When viewing short video clips on the web...the sound works but the video freezes or works like a slide show. The internet connection is via Comcast and is very high speed.
I use Vista Business and cannot find a way to allocate more memory to the video in my Bios Ver. 2.16. Also, I have been advised by NetFlix that I need updated drivers to watch movies.
Since I have 2 gb of memory...you would think that videos would work. Vista gives this notebook a 3.1 rating. I can use IE 7.0 or Firefox and I have the same problem.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I went to the intel site:
http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts ... bmit=Go%21
downloaded the new driver and I got an error message that the driver was not validated for my device.
Now I really need the link that worked for you.
Thanks, Bill

Problems solved:
Thank you very much for the Intel link. I could not make it work as I did not follow the installation instructions located in the Zip file.
After I understood the installation instructions...the updated drivers installed and worked fine. I can now watch Netflix Play it now movies and MSN video clips work perfect.
This is a "must have" download. I am surprised that Lenovo has not placed it into the ThinkVantage upgrades for the Intel Graphic equipped ThinkPad’s.
I am now a happy camper. Good luck to everyone that uses this driver update from Intel...it really works.

I see that MS has a optional Vista Update for the Intel video card...guess they got the message? I did not download the driver since I have solved the problem. My guess it is the same as what I got from Intel...a "must have" download.

Well...I installed the update that I found on the Intel site...an even newer update. %@$#% wish I had not done that. After it loaded, I got the blue screen of death and then the Z61t would not reboot to a normal screen. I then tried a restore to an earlier date...that did not work...then tried to restore to the very first date...still no luck.
The worst had happened so I flipped a Vista CD into the computer and tried the "repair" function. What a total waste of time as this did nothing. It is now about 10:00 PM and at 2:30 AM I got the Z61t running again by doing a complete format and reinstall of Vista Business.
However, this time I used the updates available using the Thinkvantage System Update 3.0. This installed the latest video drivers and the Z61t can play Netflix Play Now videos just fine.
I want those 4.5 hours back since it appears to me that Lenovo, Intel and Microsoft where not together when they had the early Intel video drivers.
Another comment...if you have Office 2007 on your ThinkPad and want to transfer Office 2003 settings to your 2007 program...DON"T!!! Not all the settings are compatible and you will corrupt Office 2007 causing you to do a restore to an earlier date. It is easier to just export all your Outlook setting and Word files to a USB drive and then Import them into Office 2007. The transfer cable is a waste of time and dangerous to use.
