Dock with 3in1 adapter only 1 works at a time

#1 Post by BeemerBiker » Sun Apr 15, 2007 8:19 am

I have a combo USB 2.0, 1394a and Ethernet 10/100 in my docking station (takes A20, A21 etc) Have been using it for a while and I just discovered it cannot handle the ethernet and usb at the same time. I tried downloading a file directly to a USB 2.0 memory stick and I thought the network died. Thruput was under 1000 bytes per second, normally 256k. Just on a hunch I pulled the memory stick and it took only seconds to download the file to the main drive. I put it back in and tried the exact same operation and the same problem: thruput under 1k the instant the device is plugged into the USB port in the adapter. Moving the memory stick to the back of the docking station to the IBM USB 1.1 works fine and an 8mb file downloads in seconds, not hours.

Looking at the thinkpad config interrupt 11 is used for all devices in the docking station. Maybe that is the problem? I have used the firewire and usb before with no problem, but the ethernet was either a pcmcia card or the built in ethernet that comes out the back of the docking station.

Anyone seen this before? Can I force a different interrupt so not all of them are 11 ?
