R40 display dim

#1 Post by clickpoint » Mon Apr 16, 2007 3:01 pm

Just bought one off EBAY ... work fine, except.............

The screen seems quite dim to me -- I am able to use it during the day, function keys work to increase/decrease intensity, gets somewhat brighter when plugged in ---- but NOT as bright as my other laptops have been (last was Dell 9300). I have updated to the lastest video drivers.

Is the R40 screen always "on the dim side"??

Also when I adjust my power scheme, the highest number is 7 for LCD brightness.. shouldn't it go higher, say to 10???

Besides this, am quite pleased with laptop!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

My R40's display is fairly dim too. So is my wife's one. With the power supply plugged in, they are comfortably usable in fairly bright light.

I agree that most other laptop displays are a lot brighter in comparison, including the one on my X20.

Is there anyway to set the screen to "brighter" than 7, or anyway to "hack" things to the screen stays as bright as it would when I have the AC adapter plugged in?

Thanks

Not that I am aware of. I would be mildly interested in such a hack.

Yep, that's in the LCD section of your thinkpad configuration.

My LCD is super dim... in fact, in sunlight you can't see anything at all.
