ibm access connections sudden error

#1 Post by acc » Mon Apr 23, 2007 2:43 pm

Hi:

I have an R51, and I use ibm access connections for my wireless connection. But all the sudden I get an error message any time I try to open the program, both from the icon on the desktop or the programs menu. The error message sas quizard.exe, illegal system DLL relocation, and in the text it says that C:\WINDOWS\system32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address reserved for windows and that a new DLL should be provided by the vendor.

I will like to keep using the Ibm program rather than the windows, any solution for this problem or place to look for the DLL and instructions about how to fix it?

Thanks a lot in advance!! :)

I found the following advice in the ThinkPad T4x Series only forum, does anybody know whether this also works for my R51?
Schems wrote:Hi, it is a problem of a specific Windows update, that you downloaded . Install this update and Access Connection works again. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... b3b0fd3d86

Access Connections

I have a T30 but I came across your post. One of the latest Windows updates is definitely the problem. If you run System Restore to a point before you installed the windows update IBM Access Connections will again work fine. Obviously this won't be a long term solution but it will get you back online. I've been looking for an Access Connections patch or a Windows Update patch but haven't found either yet.

Thanks for your suggestion!

I did not found yet any solution, I am using the Windows program, but its anoying because every time the computer switch back to the non-working ibm access and you have to manually allow windows to overrun that to operate. I am still hoping to find a solution that restore Ibm access to work properly.

thanks!

Fixed

ryengineer found this for me on the T2 & T3 forum:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

I know it looks like the same link you posted before but there are slight differences. It's in English, the file size is different and the date of release is different.

I re-downloaded all the current Windows updates (which disabled Access Connections again) then after restarting I went to the above link. I ran the program and when it was through I again restarted my T30. After that, everything works normally. :D

Hope this works for you as well. Best of luck acc!
