A30 (2652) H.D. Parts Question

#1 Post by caldwella » Thu May 03, 2007 9:27 pm

I have a friend that wants me to install a hard drive in an A30, he just obtained. I have yet to inspect this machine but do know it is currently without the H.D., caddy and connector. I have located a caddy but curious to where I can find a connector/adaptor ? I have worked on a lot of desktops but have only been inside of a few laptops. Any info world be appreciated.

No connector necessary for the A30, just the caddy and the HDD/caddy cover.... to cover the hole.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Just to clarify- When I get another hard drive mounted in the caddy, I will then slide it in and the pins on the drive will line up with a socket inside, to make the connection?

Just to be safe:

* The caddy will have a solid bottom and open top. One end will be completely open while the other will have what looks like a couple of tabs that extend from the corner. You need to put the connector end of the HDD up against those tabs (label side up).

* Put your screws and cover on, then slide the assembly into the hole.

That's pretty much it. Set your temporary boot list to whichever optical drive you have, put your OS of choice in it and start the machine. :D It's really pretty painless.
