System Board Replacement

Hi need to replace my system board is there any problem with the security chip on new system board and original laptop Thanks

If you replace the entire system board, and the security chip is included there shouldn't be any problem. I do not know how it works with Hard Drive passwords, but I would hope they would be included on the hard drive not the system board. If you didn't password protect your hard drive then that shouldn't be an issue. When you replace the system board you are essentially getting a new computer.
You may need the utility program to enter your serial number and model type into the system board or else your software updates won't function.

Do not remove the security chip from the new board. If the old board is fully functional ( assume it is not) then do not remove the security chip from it either. The security chip can only be used with the system board it belongs to. You cannot transfer the security chip. If you remove the security chip the system board will not function. It may resume working if the security chip is put back in place, but that seems like a big maybe considering the wording in the Hardware Maintenance Manual. They might just be trying to be sure the techs don't mix up security chips on the bench though. Who knows?
