Is VGA system board compatible with XGA monitor?

#1 Post by oodobah » Fri Oct 08, 2004 7:14 pm

my a22m system board died recently on me. it uses a XGA video chip. does anyone know if i replace the board with an identical board that differs only in that it uses a VGA chip, will it be compatible with my existing
XGA LCD monitor? i currently run 1024x768 resolution on the XGA. does a VGA run the same resolution? cost savings is about $200, which may persuade me not to fork out for a new notebook.

thanks

:D thanks much for the link. my eyesight isn't bad enough yet to warrant the VGA resolution. looks like i'll pass on this board.
