A22M display show 12" and its a 14.1 display

#1 Post by njdjh2o » Fri Jun 15, 2007 12:44 pm

I am new to the club and new to the A22M. My previous Laptop was an T22 which I had no problem with.

Sold the T22, then purchase the A22m.

I like the A22m except for the display issue. while scrolling though the forum I only saw with post with my same exact problem with no fix.

When I got the laptop, the software was the SUSE stuff. I format the HD and installed Window XP. Which solved my problem for a couple of days.

Then all of sudden it jump back to showing the 12 " 800x600 display. I can normally just turn it off and turn it back on and it solved the problem for a couple of days. Then all of sudden it back to the same issue, but now that don't work.

I totally dissassemble it to see if there was any loose connection, but none to be founded.

Search the internet and when SUSE (Linux) is install on the A22m it change the display to 12". They say go to the "X" an change the configuration, but what and where is "X". How do I get and what should I do when I get in there.

Welcome to thinkpads.com!

Taking a quick look at the specs of the A22m, the 14.1" screens all seem to be XGA resolution (1024x768). What it sounds like then, is that Windows is setting your screen resolution to 800x600 AND your A22m's BIOS setting for screen expansion is OFF.

The fix would be to go to Windows Display Properties window. Right-click the desktop, click Properties, click the Settings tab. Move the slider for Screen resolution to 1024x768 and click the OK button.

Thanks for the welcome note, but I have tried all of the above methods. Still can't get it to work, I would normally just reboot the computer and all is find. But that don't even work no more.

Well I research the forum and found two more poster having this problem with no response of fixes.

Thanks
SGB

If you connect an external monitor does that also only display an 800x600 resolution?

Nope, it displays as normal 1024x728 full screen. This happen as soon as I turn on the computer, BIOS set up section is the same.

I am guessing it's an LCD or inverter problem.

Have you tried downloading updated video drivers from IBM's website? Or reverting the drivers to the older one?

Yes, did the update from IBM. Is that the roll back in the Device Manager section.

That I didn't do. THose is roll back to the orignal driver when the computer was assemble or to the previous one.

As Ray mentioned earlier, did you make sure that screen expansion was set to on in your bios?
