R60 need advice on Symantec client security

#1 Post by R51owner » Wed Jun 20, 2007 6:45 pm

I have a relatively new R60 whose installed license for Sym Client Security 3.1 license will expire soon. Sym is offering to extend the license for a $69 fee. Does anyone have advice on whether to renew this, purchase Sym Internet Security ' 07 or some other vendor. I do fear changing from Sym since I would need to FULLY uninstall this product.

I do not have any spyware product or other internet security package other that Sym CS 3.1 installed now.

I appreciate any advice.

I have used all the security and spyware suites and feel that spyware blaster/adaware/and avast, all free, provide the best combination of small footprint and great protection. You can add windows defender if you like but it is a little tweaky for my taste.
Symantec, Norton and the like just are too much resource hogs. I hate slow laptops. And I have way too much power in my workstation to be bothered with that crap slowing me down.
And if you are underpowered its even worse.

I use ZoneAlarm in conjunction with AVG free. They are both free and work quite well for my needs.
